Deer Park woman wins Lotto "jackpot"

February 19, 2014

A Deer Park woman recently hit the jackpot while playing the Washington Lottery’s “Hit 5.”
The lucky winner, who asked Lottery officials not to release her name, visited the Fred Meyer store on N12120 Division on Feb. 14 and decided to check her Hit 5 ticket.
Thinking that she had won, she had her grandson check to ensure she did in fact have a winning ticket.
She shared, “this is just unbelievable!”
The woman brought her winning ticket to Washington’s Lottery Spokane Regional Office to claim her prize. When asked about her plans for the winnings, she told Lottery officials that she wants to take a trip somewhere warm.
She also said, “I donate a lot of time and money to my favorite charities, and have done the Firefighter Stair Climb for the past five years. My friend told me, maybe this is karma’s way of paying you back.”
Either way, she plans to donate a portion of the money to charity.
An occasional Lottery player, she has only previously won small amounts, making this her first big win.
