Deer Park VFW plans various Memorial Day celebrations

The Deer Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Post has Memorial Day celebrations at Holy Redeemer and Woodland cemeteries and at city hall on Monday along with a tribute to women in the armed forces at the post home.

Deer Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3067 will host a number of Memorial Day events on Monday.
The Post’s Color Guard will hold brief celebrations at Kelly/Holy Redeemer Cemetery on north Colville Avenue at 10 a.m. at the Woodland Cemetery on Monroe Road at 11 a.m.. Another ceremony, including the laying of memorial wreathes, will be held at the city hall Memorial Rock at noon.
A longer ceremony, entitled “Saluting the Woman Who Have Served” will be at the post home, E29 First St. at 2 p.m. In addition to honoring women in the armed forces, a new post flag, donated by the men’s auxiliary, will be unveiled.
