Deer Park school notes

February 23, 2014

As a part of the 2014 Target Books for Schools Program, $500 in books was awarded to Deer Park Elementary as this year’s recipient.
Store employees vote on the elementary school in Spokane County that they feel is most deserving of this gift, and this year voters at the north side Target Store chose DPES. The $500 for purchase of books from First Book Marketplace was awarded to DPES librarian Brenda Wood, DPES Principal Bonnie Remington and Target Store manager Lauren O'Shea.
A store representative visited Deer Park Elementary to present the book money certificate to Wood and the students. When entering Deer Park Elementary School she was met by children and notes of thanks for the store’s generosity.
The kindergarten, first and second graders at Deer Park Elementary were ecstatic with the award and thrilled to have more new books. The Deer Park Elementary PTO also donates books from the fall and spring Scholastic Book fairs that they operate during parent-teacher conferences.
Wood has ordered the books, which are on their way to Deer Park Elementary for children.
