Deer Park School Board changes course, hires Hanson as superintendent

June 10, 2013

Travis Hanson met with the community last month as part of the Deer Park superintendent search process.

In a surprising move, the Deer Park School Board has decided to go with Curriculum Director Travis Hanson as its new superintendent.
Hanson will replace Becky Berg on July 1.
The school board had offered the job to Spokane School District 81's Executive Director of Secondary School's Jon Swett last month, but could not come to a contract agreement.
Hanson, who has worked in the Deer Park School District for the past eight years, was a finalist for the position that attracted almost two dozen applicants after Berg's announced her decision to accept the superintendent position in the Marysville School District.
