October 4, 2012

The Deer Park boys cross country team, led by Nolan Woodward, "shut out" Clarkston 15-50 on Wednesday.

The Deer Park boys cross country team lived up to its No. 3 ranking in the state’s Class 2A ranks with a overwhelming 15-50 win over Clarkston on Wednesday in the Stags’ lone home meet this season.
Nolan Woodward led the charge over the 3-mile course with a 17-minute, 7-second performance, good enough to lead the field. Teammate Kody Turner finished second (17:16), followed over the finish line by fellow Stags Sam Davis (17:38), Brady Bollum (17:42) and Coltan Boswell 17:45).
Deer Park’s Daniel Amann, the Great Northern League’s top runner, got the day off although he received an unofficial workout by running to different part of the course to cheer on his teammates.
The Deer Park boys were not the only cross country team to remain unbeaten in GNL competition. The girls team won its match-up with the Clarkston squad 20-41.
Lady Stag junior Makenna Adams led all runners with a 20:41 performance.
Clarkston’s Kari Scamhorst placed second at 21:06 while a Deer Park trio of Anna Cartee (21:55), Karri Gallant (22:04) and Rebekah Hall (22:10).
The Deer Park squads finish their GNL season next Tuesday at Colville.
