Deer Park man arrested on lewd conduct charges

June 13, 2012

A 20-year-old Deer Park man was arrested on June 12 while a Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy was investigating another incident in the city limits.
Deputy Dan Dutton was investigating a domestic situation in Deer Park. While speaking with the homeowner, there was a knock at the front door and the homeowner told Dutton there was someone there to see him.
Jesse Smith told the deputy that he wanted to have his criminal history checked because he received a text from an ex-girlfriend accusing him of being a "child molester" and wanted to prove her wrong. Smith said he would wait by Dutton's patrol car until he was finished at the residence.
Upon following up on Smith’s request, it was confirmed that Smith had a felony warrant out of Jerome, Idaho, for three counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 years old. Dutton told Smith he was not only under arrest for the warrant, but that the bond had been set at $75,000.
