Court rules: Starbuck children to give depositions

April 14, 2013

The video depositions of Clay Starbuck’s children will go on as planned following a decision by a Spokane County Superior Court judge on Friday.
Starbuck is accused of killing his ex-wife, Chanin, in her Deer Park home in December 2011.
His family had tried to block the depositions while prosecutors believe the children’s testimony will give them a better idea on what Starbuck did the day his wife died.
Both sides stated their case in court last week with the judge ruling that depositions will commence on April 18.
Starbuck’s trial is expected to begin on May 6.
Prosecutors believe Starbuck killed his ex-wife as a way of avoiding paying almost $9,000 in back child support.
The defense counters that one of Chanin Starbuck’s new dating partners killed her.
