January 16, 2014

Deer Park's Joe Grable dominated Colville's Ian Cox 12-2 in the 145-pound match on Wednesday.

The Colville wrestling team, which has spent the past two years chasing the Deer Park Stags, finally caught its Great Northern League rival on Wednesday.
The Indians, the top ranked Class 2A team in the state, got a first period pin from 113-pound Alex Linn to defeat the Stags 38-32.
It was a match where neither team could build any sizeable lead.
The Indians’ biggest lead of 20-14 came after Ryley Smith defeated Jacob Boswell in the 182-pound match. The Stags’ biggest lead of 26-20 came when 195-pound Trevor Eicher, making his season debut, needed only 37 seconds to pin Spencer Frank.
Colville quickly tied the score at 26-26 on a Nick Warhus third period pin in the 220-pound match.
The Stags’ heavyweight Cody Devore countered with a third period pin to give Deer Park a 32-26 lead only to have the Indians, who remain undefeated in Great Northern League action, close out the match with pins by TJ Baun and Linn.
