Claude L. Bowers, 90

Claude Lincoln Bowers was born to Willie and Lillie Bowers in Skiatook, Okla., on July 21, 1920. In 1947, he married Genevieve Webb in Sunnyside, Wash. They were married until her death in 1977.
Later, he married Lillian Phelps in Spokane. They were married until her death in 1991. He died in Portland, Ore., on May 28, 2011.
During his service as an army medic in World War II, he spent 18 months as a prisoner of war in the South Pacific theatre.
He attended Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, Wash., prior to becoming an Assemblies of God minister.
Claude was an avid gardener who also enjoyed camping and fishing. Reading was his favorite indoor pastime. Louis L’Amour was his favorite author.
He is survived by three children, Jerome (Ellen) Bowers of Forks, Wash, Julene (Randy) Jacobson of Tualatin, Ore., and Beverly (Bill) Abbott of Usk; a niece who became like a daughter, Linda Gilbert; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two wives, one sister, three brothers, and two daughters.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, in Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane.
