Child pornography charges dropped against Deer Park man

June 9, 2011

Felony charges against a 34-year-old Deer Park man were dismissed on June 9 on technical grounds.
U.S. District Judge Justin Quackenbush ruled that the search warrant used to find more than 600 child pornography images on Andrew V. Davis’ computer was invalid because police failed to disclose when seeking the search warrant that key information came from a girl who had lied to detectives in other cases.
It is alleged that Davis received those images from September 2005 to November 2009.
Davis, a convicted sex offender, faced a minimum of 15 years in federal prison if convicted.
By throwing out the search warrant, it rendered the evidence against Davis inadmissible.
Davis was convicted of two counts of third-degree child rape in Thurston County in 1998.
