Carol Maureen Doane Eckart, age 85 was born on Jan. 2, 1929, in Wilbur, Wash., the youngest child of Maurice Jasper Doane and Tillie Evers Doane. She grew up in Govan, Wash., graduated from Wilbur High School in 1947 and worked as a bookkeeper until 1953. She passed away on Jan. 29, 1914, in Spokane.
She married Henry â€śHankâ€ť G. Eckhart on May 16, 1953 in Wilbur and moved to the family farm by Almira, Wash., for 14 years until 1967, when they moved to the family farm north of Bonners Ferry, Idaho for four years before retiring for four years and moved in 1974 to the present farm on Wild Rose Prairie. For a period of time she moved into Deer Park but moved back to the farm in 2005.
She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, starting in 1955, when she joined the Evening Star No. 108 Chapter in Almira. After moving to Deer Park, she was affiliated with the Bethlehem Chapter No. 87 in 1976.
She served as Worthy Matron in 1980 and 1990, was a past Deputy Instructor and a past Grand Representative of Mississippi. She became a lifetime member of 59 years with dual memberships with both chapters at the time of her death.
She was also a member of Half Moon Grange No. 907 since 1975.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church in Deer Park and for the last eight years she belonged to the Wild Rose Methodist Church, where she was the treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; a brother, Russell Doane; and a sister, Joyce Doane Davis.
She is survived by her brother, Bruce Doane of Moxee, Wash.; two sons, H.C. Dusty Eckhart (Sally) and Andrew Eckhart (Valerie); six grandchildren, Christopher (Samantha) Eckhart, Eva Eckhart, Allison Eckhart, Brian (Karrissa) Eckhart, Carie Eckhart Thomson (Joshua) and Tucker Eckhart; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral service was held on Feb. 10 at the Deer Park United Methodist Church. Interment will be 11 a.m. on Feb. 12 at the Almira Cemetery.
