Burglars steal $11,000 worth of property from Elk home

Spokane County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a burglary in the Elk area on Oct. 1 where more than $11,000 worth of property was stolen.
Deputy Michael Beckman responded to a residential burglary call near the 35000 block of Newport Hwy. The deputy spoke with the homeowner who told him he had recently inherited the house.
The homeowner said he had not been there in a couple weeks and when he came by on Tuesday he discovered that someone had broken into the detached garage and residence.
Multiple high dollar items were taken from the garage including power tools, a lawn tractor, an 8,000-watt generator, studded snow tires and wheels, and air compressor.
