Berg leaving Deer Park for Marysville

March 30, 2013

The Deer Park School Board will begin work this week to find a replacement for Superintendent Becky Berg, who submitted her resignation (effective June 30) to take a similar position with the Marysville School District.
The school board is expected to meet with representatives from Educational Service District No. 101 to map out a strategy to find Berg’s replacement.
The school board used ESD 101 resources in 2010 to hire Berg after Mick Miller to a superintendent job in the Walla Walla School District.
For the school board, finding Berg’s replacement may be a little easier since the five members were on board when they searched for Miller’s replacement.
The Marysville School Board chose Berg, one of three finalists for the position, on Thursday, a day after her official visit to the school district.
Berg worked as a classroom teacher in the Renton and Enumclaw School districts before working as a principal in the Bainbridge Island and Mead School districts . She was hired over two other candidates for the Deer Park superintendent position in May 2010.
