Barbara R. Corenevsky, 85

Barbara Reine Corenevsky, 85, a resident of Deer Park, formerly of San Francisco, passed away on March 13, 2013, in Deer Park.
Barbara is the loving mother of Cathlene Babbick of Deer Park. Her grandson, James Laurin Jr., resides in Germany. Barbara also enjoyed four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alec, in 1988; her parents, Albert and Marion Elkington; and her sister, Eleanor West.
Born in 1927 in San Francisco, (Barbara was a four generation San Franciscan, white gloves and all), she graduated from St. Emydius Catholic School for Girls and went to work for the U.S. Navy at Hunters Point Naval Shipyards as a typist. She met her husband-to-be, Alec R. Corenevsky, at Hunters Point and they were married on Feb. 15, 1946 at the home of Barbara’s parents on Portola Drive in San Francisco.
Alec was later employed with the city of San Francisco and Barbara was employed as a typist at Teamsters Local No. 856, retiring in 1985.
Services honoring Mrs. Corenevsky will be held in Deer Park at the Open Door Congregational Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, with the Rev. Daniel Berg officiating.
Her daughter suggests memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of service arrangements.
