Aaron E. Olson, 86

A celebration of his life was held on Feb. 25 at Manito Presbyterian Church, Spokane, for longtime Deer Park resident Aaron E. Olson, 86, who passed away on Feb. 17 in Spokane.
Born on July 5, 1925, to Lois and Ed Olson in Spokane, he was reared on a farm in Deer Park. He, along with his older brother, James, and his younger sisters, Adeline and Caroline, helped with his family business known as the Six Pines Ranch.
In 1943, he graduated from Deer Park High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served during the Korean War.
He met Arlene J. Pugh in 1948, and they were married on Sept. 18, 1949.
Mr. Olson moved into a career in the automotive business that started with his own small operation called A-1 Motor Sales, but he was known most of all for Rancho AMC Jeep. After a career of nearly 40 years, he retired.
He also bought his family farm, which he and his son worked on for nearly 10 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club in Spokane and served as the president of the New Car Dealers for four years.
Mr. Olson enjoyed traveling, including years of going to Hawaii for the holidays.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Olson; two children, Staci Olson Cole and Aaron J. Olson; two sisters, Adeline Bolstad and Caroline Palmer; and two grandchildren, Jessica Conatser and David Cole.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, was in charge of funeral services and cremation arrangements.
