Deer Park School Board member Eric Keller and Riverside School Board member Chris Nieuwenhuis attended the National School Board Federal Relations Network and Advocacy Institute in Washington D.C., earlier this month.
The pair were joined by approximately 25 school board members throughout Washington State and school directors from throughout the nation to create a common message. The area school board members then lobbied Washington State representatives to help with the funding school districts receive for federal programs.

In late 1969, Orville Moe and the Spokane Timing Association announced that they would be building a $2,000,000 racing complex in western Spokane County and this was recorded in the November 19, 1969, Deer Park City Council meeting notes.
The five-year contract between the Spokane Timing Association and the Town of Deer Park was terminated.

The Riverside School District has received a WaKids Implementation Grant for the 2013-14 school that allows Riversideâ€™s two elementary schools to host a series of kindergarten family nights.
The family nights focuses on building connections between the schools, families and the areaâ€™s early childhood providers.
