Eager Chargers humble Lancers

September 20, 2011

The Springdale Chargers couldn’t wait for their second football game this season.
The Chargers, who were routed by Tekoa-Oaksdale in their season opener two weeks ago, scored the first time they touched the ball, a 58-yard punt return by Shane O’Malley in a 48-0 win over Liberty (0-3) on Friday.
Unfortunately, O’Malley’s punt return was called back by a clipping penalty. It did not matter, since Mitch Peone legally scored a 45-yard run two plays later and the Chargers were in control the rest of the way.
