Gary E. Bell, 74

August 7, 2012

Former area real estate agent Gary Edger Bell, 74, passed away on Aug. 4, 2012.
Born on March 18, 1938, at Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Hilma and Dwight Bell, he graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1956.
After graduation he served in the Army. Upon his discharge, he moved to Dillon, Mont., to work road construction with Took Brothers Construction. It was in Dillon that he met and married Agnes Shafer in April 1962.
The couple moved to Bonney Lake, Wash., when he went to work for Boeing. They later purchased property between Deer Park and Chattaroy and built their home.

Rose G. Gilbert, 95

Rose G. Gilbert, 95, was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and moved to Deer Park in 1958. She was a devout member of the Eagles and Church of the Wildwood since 1999.
Rose was a wonderful member and friend to many people. Her many interests included quilt making, crocheting for disabled veterans, grandchildren, family and many friends. No matter the craft Rose enjoyed them as well as special knick-knacks.
Rose will be greatly missed but her beautiful hand-crafted gifts will be long enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Tom; and a son, Bill, 69.

James E. Calmes, 70

Jim Calmes passed away on July 17, 2012, fighting a good fight to the end from complications of his lung cancer resulting in leukemia, with his family at his side.
He was one of our nation’s heroes, a Air Force veteran, but to his family, he was so much more. He was the father and husband that are the backbone of our country, a man to look up to. He will be so missed. God got a good one!
Jim was born at Pearl River, La., on Jan. 7, 1942, to Charles and Ella Calmes.

Betty L. Cuff, 59

A memorial service was July 25 at Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park, with the Rev. Daniel Berg officiating, for longtime Deer Park resident Betty Lou Cuff, 59, who passed away on July 17, 2012.
Born on Nov. 6, 1952, to William and Alma Cuff, she attended school in Deer Park before graduating high school in Spokane.
She worked at Radio Shack and the Salty Dog in Deer Park before volunteering at the GreenHouse Community Center for the past eight years.
She is survived by two brothers, Leo and Jack; and one sister, Bonnie.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park was in charge of arrangements.

Etta M. Clarkson, 92

It is with profound love that we celebrate the life and mourn the loss of our mother, Etta Marie Clarkson. Surrounded by her dedicated and loving family, she was welcomed by the lord on June 22, 2012.
Etta was born on Sept. 30, 1919, in Harper, Kansas to John and Ida Phye. She later married James Clarkson on Sept. 24, 1942, in Anthony, Kansas. Shortly after, they filled their home with the birth of their three children, Ralph, Richard, and Jana.

Liesbeth Urbat, 90

Liesbeth Urbat, 90, a woman of great strength and courage, was called to rest in heaven on June 16, 2012.
Born in East Prussia, Germany, on June 24, 1921, she was raised on a small farm with her father, mother, and brother, Erwin. As a young woman, she found herself amidst World War II. With only days left before a Russian attack on their tiny farming community, families were advised to flee. Liesbeth heeded the advice and fled, only to return to the village later where she learned that her family who had stayed behind had not survived the attack.

Murry D. Cleveland, 83

June 21, 2012

Murry D. Cleveland, 83, passed away on June 12, 2012, in Spokane.
Murry was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Marvin P. and Grace Marie Cleveland and attended school in the Sioux City area and received a diploma from the high school in Sargeants Bluff, Iowa. He moved with his family to Walla Walla, Wash., in 1942 where he worked on a cattle ranch. He served in the Navy from 1946-1948 and returned to Walla Walla where he began his auto body rebuild career.

Linda L. Allery, 76

A private memorial service will be held in September for former Deer Park resident Linda L. Allery, 76, who passed away on May 28 in Chico, Calif., with her daughter at her side.
Mrs. Allery was born on May 5, 1936.

Karl L. Fausett, 56

June 12, 2012

Karl Leo Fausett, 56, left his earthly home and his beloved family to go to a better place with his Savior Jesus Christ and his loved ones who have gone before — a place of reunion, love, peace and freedom from pain and turmoil.
He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Troy, Mont., from complications due to diabetes and other health issues on May 26, 2012.

Vera A. Spaulding, 91

May 18, 2012

Vera A. (Wind) Spaulding, 91, entered into rest on April 16, 2012, at her home in Clayton surrounded by her children.
Vera was born in Spokane on Nov. 13, 1920, and moved to Clayton a short time later. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1938 and then attended St. Luke's Hospital for nurses' training in Spokane, graduating in 1941.
Vera married Jack Spaulding on Oct. 18, 1941, and they moved to Seattle.
She worked at West Seattle General Hospital until she moved back to the family homestead in Clayton in 1975.
Jack preceded Vera in death, in 2004.
