A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19 at the Cheney United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow for former Chattaroy Elementary School teacher Irene Rufer, 92, who passed away Aug. 8 in Spokane.
Born on Sept. 4, 1918, in Hillsboro, Ore., to Jacob and Flora (Wright) Rufer, she attended schools in Holbrook and Silverton, Ore. She attended high school in Spangle, Wash.
She continued her education at Eastern Washington University where she received her bachelorâ€™s degree in education and later received her master's degree.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 12 at St. Peter's Parish, 3520 18th St., Spokane, followed by graveside services at Fairmount Memorial Park, Spokane, for former Washington Brick and Lime Co. supervisor John Talarico, 97, who passed away on Aug. 6.
Born on Dec. 10, 1913, in Spokane, he worked for Washington Brick & Lime in Clayton for 40 years and held a variety of positions from forklift operator to superintendent. His inventions were very much appreciated at the plant.
Funeral services were Aug. 9 at the Church of the Nazarene in Deer Park, with the Rev. Ron Molina officiating, for Deer Park resident Aurora L. Dizmang, who passed away on Aug. 5 in Spokane.
Born in 1917 in Cleveland, Ga., she was a high school graduate and a longtime owner and operator of a custom drapery business.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Her husband, Frank Dizmang, and a son, John Bryan, predeceased her.
Ramona Cline, 97, a very, very longtime resident of the Twin Mountain/Williams Valley area of Deer Park entered into rest on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, due to a fall and broken hip on her 97th birthday.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1914, at Freeport, Kan., to Royal and Bertha Russell.
An informal celebration of life will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 13 at 4109 Maple Street at Loon Lake for area resident Richard â€śDickâ€ť D. Brauner, 89, who died on July 15 at the home of his daughter Ronna (Eddie) Jimenez in Palm Desert, Calif., from complications of pneumonia, COPD and heart disease.
Born on July 9, 1922, as the third child to Ruth (Ricketts) and Carl Brauner in Colville, he resided in the summer at Loon Lake, and wintered at Desert Hot Springs, Calif. with his wife of 66 years, Maxine.
He grew up in Marcus, graduating in 1940.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on July 29 at St. Francis Xavier Church Spokane, for former Loon Lake resident Magaret L. Bartholomew, 90, who passed away on July 15.
Born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Central Butte, Saskatchewan to the late Andrew and Jane (McIlraith Munro) Weyer, the family moved to Spokane in March 1936. She attended West Valley High School for one year then found work as a cook's helper and laundress for board and room plus $1 per day at the Bethany Home across the street from her home.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on July 31 at the family home, 9122 Deer Valley Road, in Newport, for Derek J. Nichols, who passed away at his home on July 21, 2011, with his mother by his side.
Born on Jan. 28, 1984, in Missoula Mont., he was a kind hearted and loving person who battled cancer and its effects from the age of 8 until his final day.
He loved being with his family, pets and his friends at the Newport Clubhouse. He also enjoyed playing board games, word finds, shopping and spending time outside especially in his swing.
Graveside services were July 25 at the Peone Prairie Cemetery, with the Rev. Alice Payne officiating, for area resident Eileen V. Robinson, 86, who passed away on July 20 in Spokane.
Born on Oct. 26, 1924, at Bonners Ferry, Idaho, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Robinson; a daughter, Carol Pluid; an infant son; and two brothers, Bill and Gene Losh.
She is survived by five children, Sharon (Don) Burkey, Cheryl (Lee) Evenson, Roy (Liz) Pluid, Jesse Bernstine III and Brian Bernstine; eight grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
Ruth Neoma Robison, 80, died on July 8, 2011, in Deer Park. She was born on Dec. 1, 1930 to Ethel (Lowery) and Earnest Miller in Minco, Okla. She met and married the love of her life, Bill Robison, in Campbell, Calif.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Bill; her mother, Ethel; two siblings, Jay Miller and Helen Joyce Miller; and her granddaughter, Tara Lynn Foster.
No services are planned for Andrew J. â€śA.J.â€ť Downing, 67, who passed away on July 7 at his Deer Park home.
Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made in honor of A.J. Downing to the American Cancer Society, or the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
