A memorial reception will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept.10 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, N202 Second St., Chewelah, for former Ford merchant Evelyn A. McMillan, 103, who passed away on Sept. 1 in Colville.
Born on her grandparent's ranch near Princeton, Minn., on Feb. 14, 1908, her family lived for two years in Bemidji, Minn., before moving to Ronan, Mont. When she was 13 her family moved to Missoula where she finished high school and enrolled at the University of Montana, majoring in music.
No services are planned for longtime Deer Park resident Elizabeth C. Huff, 85, who passed away on Aug. 29.
Born and raised in Spokane, she graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and received a bachelorâ€™s degree in education from Eastern Washington State College. She taught school for 13 years in the Deer Park School District retiring in the late 1960s when she remarried.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Huff, in 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Peter D. Stillman and David C. (Sandra) Stillman; five grandchildren: and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 3 at St. Maryâ€™s Presentation Catholic Church, Deer Park, with the Rev. Albert Grasher officiating, for longtime Deer Park resident Sister Marian E. Jones, 95, who passed away on Aug. 28, in Spokane.
Her sister, Harriet Dawson, resides in Port Angeles, Wash.
An ash committal service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash., for Dorothy J. Cunningham, 80, who passed away on Aug. 25 at her Springdale home.
Born on Dec. 4, 1930, in Tonasket, Wash., to Merton Joseph and Mamie Pearl (Cooksey) Attwood, she attended school in Tonasket. On June 25, 1948, she married Gerald â€śJerryâ€ť A. Cunningham. The couple lived in Okanogan, Wash., before moving to Renton in 1957 where she began work at the Boeing Aircraft Co. as an administrative assistant.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 31 at the Colfax United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Nelson officiating, for former Elk resident Jack M. Pittman, 89, who passed away in Spokane on Aug. 25.
Born on Oct. 26, 1921, at Medical Lake to the late John and Louise Pittman, he lived his early life in the Medical Lake/Spangle area. The family moved to Elk where he graduated from Riverside High School in 1939.
He briefly attended Eastern Washington College of Education and then enlisted in the Navy in 1940. He served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters.
Lillian Grace Koehler passed away on July 19, 2011.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1925, in Kettle Falls, Wash., the youngest of six children to Jonathan and Lovena Reed. She grew up in Ione, Wash., and graduated as Class Valedictorian in 1943.
On Jan. 20, 1943, she married Robert Koehler. They were married 58 1/2 years. During World War II, while her husband served in the Army, she was employed at Galena Air Depot, now Fairchild Air Force Base, plotting and tracking troop movements.
James M. Thompson passed thru the â€śGolden Gatesâ€ť on Aug. 19, 2011, at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Community Living Center.
James was met at the â€śGolden Gatesâ€ť by his father, Milas D. â€śGrampsâ€ť Thompson; his mother, Pamela Wheaton; little brother, Patrick A. â€śPatâ€ť Thompson; and a niece, Angel Thompson.
James was born in Guthrie, Okla., on March 11, 1960, and raised in Federal Way, Wash. He resided in Springdale since 1994.
A graveside service was held on Aug. 20 at the Wildrose Prairie Cemetery for former Wildrose Prairie resident Yekaterina S. Makhanova, 85, who passed away on Aug. 17 at her Newman Lake home.
Born in 1926 at Kirovograd, the Ukraine, she later moved to Tajikistan and married Andrey Makhanova at the age of 19.
Mr. Makhanova passed away in 1988. She came to Spokane in 1996 to be with her children.
Mrs. Makhanova is a member of the Pilgrim Slavic Church in Spokane.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the Clayton Community Church followed with interment in the Williams Valley Cemetery with military honors and flag presentation by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard for former Clayton resident Adelbert A. â€śDelâ€ť Johnson, 64, who passed away on Aug. 10 in Bellevue, Wash.
Born in Clayton to Evelyn and Roy Johnson, he graduated from Deer Park High in 1966, (leaving with extra credits because he loved school so much.)
No services are planned for former area resident Everett E. Williams, 82, who passed away on Aug. 9 in Spokane.
Born on Nov. 21, 1928, to the late Edward and Minnie (Wallace) Williams in Darlington, Idaho, he moved often growing up and therefore attended many schools, but graduated from Deer Park High School in 1947. After high school he joined the Air Force, where he also took college classes.
He later became the manager of Sprouse Reitz stores in the Hillyard and Garland locations before moving to Colville to manage the Sprouse Reitz there.
