A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Foothills Community Church, N.11102 Forker Road, Spokane, for former Deer Park resident Cloyce E. Preedy, 87, who passed away on Oct. 19 in Spokane.
Born on June 18, 1924, to the late Evert and Maude Preedy, he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1942.
In 1945 Cloyce married Blanche C. Morton. They were divorced in 1954. In 1955, he married Olive A. Thomas-Davis. In July 1993 she passed away and he married Bonnie Lorraine Anderson-Neil in June 1994.
A memorial service will held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Clayton Community Bible Church, 4494 Carlton Ave., for Evelyn Johnson, 86, who passed away on Oct. 21 in Spokane.
Born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Brownsville, Maine, she graduated from high school at the top of her class of four students. At age 18, she went to work as a welder in the shipyards in Connecticut during World War II then to work for the Army Map Service in Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, with the Rev. Rick McCombs officiating, for former Clayton resident Roscoe W. Jones, 85, who passed away on Oct. 21.
Born in 1925 in Lexington, Neb., he attended school in Clayton before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a longtime employee at Kaiser-Mead, working as a rodding room operator. He was currently living in Spokane Valley.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Clayton Grange, Eagles Aerie No. 2 in Spokane and United Steelworkers of America Local No. 329.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Oct. 22, both at St. Maryâ€™s Presentation Catholic Church, Deer Park, E602 Sixth St., for longtime Loon Lake resident James H. â€śJimâ€ť Berger, 91, who passed away on Oct. 18.
Mr. Berger was a former Stevens County Public Utility District No. 1 commissioner and Woodland Cemetery manager.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22 at the Springdale Community Church, for former Springdale resident Marine Corps Sgt. Charles Henry, 27, who passed away on Oct. 13 in Jacksonville, N.C.
Born on Nov. 20, 1984, in Enid, Okla., to Fredrick and Linda Henry, he graduated from Mary Walker High, where he met his wrestling coach and mentor, Kyle Dodge. It was in high school where he met his wife-to-be, Heaven Spiry. They were married on Dec. 11, 2004, at the Springdale Community Church by the Rev. Sonny Clemmer.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21 in the Riverside High School multi-purpose room for longtime Riverside School District teacher Thomas M. McClure, 58, who passed away on Sept. 25.
Born on Nov. 28, 1952, in Casper, Wy., to the late Harold M. McClure and Lorraine M. Hartman, he attended Tracy Joint Union High School in Tracy, Calif., and graduated in 1970. He was quarterback and captain of the football team and also an outstanding wrestler. He won the Tracy Booster Club and Teachers Education School awards in high school.
A memorial service and reception was held on Oct. 14 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur dâ€™Alene, for former Deer Park resident Walter E. Peak, 81.
Born on Nov. 25, 1929, to Paul and Alice Peak, he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1947 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served four years. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum Co., where he traveled to Germany, Wales, England, West Virginia and Louisiana as a trouble-shooter. He retired as a general foreman at the age of 52.
A gathering will held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 at the Russell Booher home, N42107 Franz Road, Elk, followed by funeral services at 4 p.m. at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, N1802 Raymond Road, Spokane Valley, with Steve Crosby speaking, for former Elk area resident Stella L. Nestoss, 52, who passed away on Oct. 6 in Spokane.
Born in 1959 to the late Eldon and Helen Verdel Booher, she graduated from Riverside High School in 1977 and was later employed as a housekeeper at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, and at Zipâ€™s Drive-In on north Division.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, N7200 Wall St. Spokane, for former Deer Park resident Karen L. Myrick, 67, who passed away on Sept. 17.
Raised in Milwaukee, Wis., she spent her summers playing on Lake Michigan with her sister, Patricia. In 1958, she moved with her family to Spokane, where she attended Rogers High School. She and her husband, Neil, moved to Deer Park in 1979.
Karen was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice Steffes, her mother, Audrey Brickner, and stepfather, Gregory Brickner.
Sheila R. Hoover passed away on Sept. 24, 2011, at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
She was born on July 3, 1966, to Donna Boardman. She was a hardworking woman who always gave a helping hand when needed.
She will be remembered for her smile, laugh and humor. She had interests including horseback riding, gardening, reading, singing, sewing and beadwork. She was very creative, artistic and had a sweet, innocent spirit about her.
