Carol Maureen Doane Eckart, age 85 was born on Jan. 2, 1929, in Wilbur, Wash., the youngest child of Maurice Jasper Doane and Tillie Evers Doane. She grew up in Govan, Wash., graduated from Wilbur High School in 1947 and worked as a bookkeeper until 1953. She passed away on Jan. 29, 1914, in Spokane.
Sammie Faye Cheak, softly and tenderly passed into the arms of her Savior on Feb. 6, 2014.
In her 85 years, she built a life of unfathomable beauty and grace, having written a song of deep, abiding, genuine love on the hearts of her husband, family, and every person she knew. All who knew her loved her, and became blessed beyond measure to have parts of their lives intermingled with hers.
She was our Mother, "Momo," pastor's wife, teacher, counselor, mentor and friend.
Marjorie Carolyn (Strong) Denny, 72 years of life and after a life spent teaching the importance of family, faithfulness, integrity and hard work, our devoted and most beloved mother and best friend passed away on Jan. 27, 2014.
Her past few months had been very hectic, complicated by health issues with which she faced with great inner strength and quiet dignity, providing one last lesson on facing the obstacles life presents. We are now comforted by the assurance that she is enjoying her well-deserved reward in Heaven.
Longtime Deer Park area resident Bobby Joe Harris (1934-2014) passed away on Friday, Jan 24, at his home with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; a daughter, Fawn Tipton; a son, Joseph Harris; five grandchildren, Micheal (Jeanne) Flugel, Bobby and Justin Harris and Alex â€śSqueakâ€ť and Dallas Tipton; and one great-grandson, Jackson Harris Flugel.
There will be no service at his request.
Our beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Renee H. Olalia passed away at home in Deer Park on Jan. 14, 2014.
Renee was born on Nov. 11, 1936 in Seattle to James and Mildred Davis. Her family moved to Cashmere, Wash., when she was a little girl, where her parents owned and operated an apple orchard.
She was a youth leader at the community center in Wenatchee. She also was on the board to help fight for Indian rights in Spokane.
A funeral service was Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Riplinger Funeral Home, N4305 Division, for longtime Spokane area resident Jean (Cobane) (Rouleau) Gellner, 73, who passed away on Jan. 21 in Spokane.
Born on Jan. 14, 1941, in Ellensburg, she graduated from Connell High School in 1959 and later attended Kinman Business College.
Mrs. Gellner moved in the Spokane area in 1979 and was the first female manager for Met Life Insurance.
She was married to Al Rouleau from 1960-81. She later married Jon Gellner in 1982. Mr. Gellner passed away in 2007.
In loving memory of Dave Syth, 76, a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather, who passed away on Dec. 31.
Mr. Syth was born on April 11, 1937, in Sandpoint and raised in Kalispell, Mont.
He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, loving man. His wife, Jeanne, has many years of fond memories of gardening, country dancing and decorating for the holidays. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; five children, Dawn, Jody, Mark, Jerry and Rick; a brother, Don; a sister, Patsy; and numerous grandchildren.
Mary Helena Engle, age 98, a long-time resident of Deer Park, passed away on Dec. 23, 2013, in Spokane. She was born in Old Kettle Falls Wash., on Oct. 31, 1915.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl, of 63 years.
She was the loving mother of Earl L Engle, Danny G Engle, Christina Engle, Tamara Wetherell, Penelope Coffey, Deborah Engle and James Batson Engle; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
Mrs. Engle was a charter member of the Deer Park Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Raymond E. Turner, age 75, passed away on Dec. 25, 2013, in Chattaroy.
He was born on March 31, 1938, to Harland and Betty Turner in Tonasket, Wash. Ray married Arla Jean Larson on April 22, 1982. They made their home in Chattaroy with their daughter Mindy Longwill.
Ray was an ambitious, fun, loving man! He worked as an electrical engineer for most of his professional career and had been involved in many projects over the years including the original Seattle King Dome.
When he was able to he loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, and mostly "have a beer" with his friends.
Terry Tess, age 66, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2013.
He was born on May 20, 1947, to Robert and Meryle Tess. He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1965 and was self-employed until he went to work for Central Pre-Mix until his retirement in 2003.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, outdoor sports and horse racing.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; his sister, Colleen Prophet; two daughters, Brandi Pankey (Jared) and Shasta Tess; three grandchildren, Alexis and Brayden Pankey and Kyler Tess; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
