A funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2013, at Deer Park High School for Deer Park resident James Bryan Sibley, 16, who passed on Nov. 10 in Deer Park.
Born Oct.1, 1997, in Fairbanks, Alaska, he was the son of James and Jacqueline Sibley.
He was a young man full of love. His hobby was sharing this love with those around him. James did this many ways.
He enjoyed art and music, whether he was drawing pictures for his peers at DPHS; or singing along with his favorite song, he was doing it as a way to share his love with those around him.
Ellen L. (Pratt, Hutchinson) Baker, age 89 was born on Nov. 18, 1923, to Arthur G. and Mary A. Pratt at the family homestead in the shadow of White Bluff, west of Spokane. She died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, evening at Franklin Hills Nursing Home of heart and lung failure.
She spent her childhood on the family farm with her beloved horses and helping her dad. She married Roy M. Hutchinson Sr. in October 1941. They spent their time at various jobs and part-time farming and playing with their horses. Roy died in 1973.
Warren Herbert Balch, 83, was born April 30, 1930 in Ticonderoga, N.Y., and died on Sept. 28, 2013 at the Spokane Veteransâ€™ Administration Hospital.
He is survived by one daughter, Terra J. Pring; two grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Ray of Poultney, Vt.
Warren served in the U.S. Navy from July 25, 1947, to Dec. 28, 1951, and the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 5, 1955 to Nov. 11, 1959.
He will be missed!
Helen (Hopp) Wolf died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Nov. 1, 2013.
Helen was born July 27, 1913 in Odessa, Wash., to Conrad and Ann Margaret Hopp who had immigrated to America earlier that year. Helen grew up on a farm near Lamona, Wash., and attended the two-room Lamona School through eighth grade. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1932 and married Leo Wolf that fall. They shared 49 wonderful years together until Leo passed away in 1982.
Earl Howard Sr. a longtime resident of the Valley, Wash., area, passed away on Oct. 22, 2013, in Spokane at the age of 73.
Earl was born on March 19, 1940 in Mouise, Ky., the son of Wilse and Syntha (Scotchfield) Howard. Earl lived with his family in Indiana where he attended school and completed the eighth grade. At the age of 16 he began a new journey in life when he decided to hitchhike to Washington and arrived and settled in the Spokane area.
Joyce M. Larson, age 84, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Oct. 25, 2013. She was the loving devoted wife to Larry and mother to Michael, who preceded her in 1992.
Survived by one sister. LouAnne Dennison of Nooksak, Wash.; a daughter, Michelle Gemmill (Gregg Gemmill) of Deer Lake; four grandchildren, Brian Larson of Bayview Idaho, Rachel and Toby Jeffrey of Vancouver Wash., Laura Gemmill of Cheney, and Jason Gemmill of Deer Park; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Glenn James Perrins, 68, passed away on Oct. 18, 2013, at Moses Lake, Wash., after a four-year battle with cancer. He lived a life of faith, love and commitment and was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Glenn was born on Nov. 15, 1944, to the late Melvin Samuel Perrins and Sadie Ressa Lounsbury in Spokane. He was raised in Deer Park where he was active in band, football, baseball, track and basketball.
Elizabeth Rose â€śBettyâ€ť (Zaversnik) (Vosahlo) Jacobs was born on Sept. 12, 1924, in Rock Springs, Wy., to Joseph and Mari Zaversnik. She passed away on Sept. 23, 2013, in Newport at the age of 89.
Betty and her family moved from Rock Springs to the Elk-Camden area when she was in her early teens. She met and married Joe Vosahlo at a young age and they had four children, Don Vosahlo (Connie), Phyllis Sage (Gary), Arlene Casselman (Derris) and Jack Vosahlo.
Beside being a wife and mother, she was an avid painter and gardener. She loved the outdoors, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading.
Daniel Ira Johnson (Danny) was born on Nov. 7, 1951, to Ira William and Noreen Louise Johnson, their third of five children. Danny grew up on a dairy farm in Williams Valley west of Deer Park.
His Christian parents raised him to become the Godly man that we all loved so much. Since the family never owned a TV, after a long day of chores, they played games, and read the Bible together. As an adult, without fail, year in and year out, every morning with his bowl of Wheaties cereal, you would find Dan reading his well-worn Bible, seeking and soaking up the Word of God.
A benefit will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 at The Mulz Shed, N37011 Newport Highway, Chattaroy, for lifetime area resident Daniel R. Goehring, 50, who passed away on Sept. 26 in Elk.
Mr. Goehring was born on Dec. 2, 1962, in Spokane.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley Persyn; three children, Daniel Goehring, Jordan Persyn and Jennifer (Marc) Hathaway; one brother, Allen Goehring; and two grandchildren, Gavin and Gage Hathaway.
