Lillian M. Janson of Deer Park passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at Royal Park Care Center, Spokane, on Thursday, July 18.
She was born on March 31, 1924, at St. Maries, Idaho, to Martin and Ruth Abbott. She moved with her family to the Mt. Spokane area and attended Chattaroy Elementary School and Mead High School. She married Roger Janson on June 7, 1941, and moved into the Morgan Acres area of Spokane, where their three children were born.
In 1953, the family moved to a farm north of Deer Park, where Lillian created a beautiful yard and flower gardens.
Bob R. Swanson, 54, passed away unexpectedly at the Loon Lake home he shared with his daughter and his girlfriend/mother of his children.
Bob was well loved in the community and was an avid fisherman and poker player, loved the outdoors, animals and children. He worked throughout his life as a talented welder/fabricator.
He leaves behind his girlfriend, Vickie Campbell; his parents, Robert and Marlene Swanson; three daughters, Kristen Swanson, Hannah Campbell-Bush and Cheryl Melville-Gilliam; a son, William Melville; nine grandchildren; and his four-legged best friend, Bronson.
Allen Austin Ashworth, 62, passed away, surrounded by his family, after an almost-successful struggle against cancer.
Allen is survived by an amazing family: Cynthia, his beloved wife and best friend for 31 years; two daughters and a son: Rachael Ashworth (Nick) of Spokane, Deborah (Eric) Good of Deer Park, and Benjamin Ashworth (Audrey) of Spokane, as well as five precious grandchildren: Lenore, Leif, Nathan, Isaac and Noah. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A memorial service will be at noon on Saturday, July 20, at the Deer Park Zion Lutheran Church, E218 Crawford, followed by a potluck, for Charles L. Scott, 71.
Mr. Scott was born in Fort Lewis, Wash., to Clyde and Charlotte Scott on June 29, 1941. He passed away on May 5, 2013.
He attended Rogers High School and after graduation joined the Navy. Upon returning from his service in the Navy, He obtained a position with the Western Fruit Express Railroad where he worked for 27 Â˝ years.
A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. on July 16 at St. Maryâ€™s Presentation Catholic Church, E602 Sixth St., Deer Park, for local resident Robert L. Creech, 75, who passed away on May 7, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The mass will be followed by burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park and a memorial ceremony and luncheon at the Deer Park Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3067 post home, E29 First St.
Born on Jan. 25, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla., Mr. Creech served in the Navy for two years and was a retired carpenter with the Clark County Housing Authority in Las Vegas and was a licensed cosmetologist.
A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on July 13 at Mix Park for Ellen L. Hilderbrand, 53, who passed away on June 10.
She is survived by her mother, Georgia Wise; her husband, Bud; and three brothers, Butch (Janice), Joe and Pat (Debbie).
Ralph Homer Daugherty of Deer Park passed away on June 25, 2013, at the age of 85. Ralph succumbed to pneumonia, complicated by leukemia and chemo treatments that he had been battling with for the last four years.
Ralph was born into Lewis and Velma Daugherty's large family of 10 children on July 25, 1927, in Elk. He quit high school to join the Navy during World War II. After the war he returned to high school and earned his diploma.
John S. Holmes, age 66, passed away on June 23, 2013.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1947. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Engineering.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; three sisters; and two daughters.
I will miss you, my best friend, my teacher, my husband.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date for longtime area resident Viola Bernice Taylor, 90, who passed away on June 9, 2013, at the Providence Long Term Care Center.
She and her, husband, Albert, farmed in the Loon Lake/Deer Lake area for many years. They also owned and operated second-hand stores in Oregon, Idaho and Arizona and motels in Idaho and Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; and one daughter, Leila L. Marshall.
Dorothy â€śDeeâ€ť (Bowers) Smith, a longtime resident of Deer Park, was called heavenward on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Dee had four children: Rueben (Dale) Bowers, Bob Bowers, Carol McDaniel, and Linda Gilbert; 14 grandchildren, R.D. Bowers Jr. (deceased), Richard Bowers, Cyrena Lehman, Dawn James Robert Bowers, Amanda Bowers, Chad Bowers, Rachelle Bowers (deceased), Mike Gembala, Matt Gembala, Troy Bowers, Whitney Bowers-Steinauer; and 24 great-grandchildren.
