A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 27 at St Mark's Lutheran Church, E316 24th Ave., Spokane, for Deer Park resident Melany L. (Slechta) Box, 51, who passed away on Jan. 17, 2012.
Born on July 12, 1960, IN Ritzville to Dale D. and Marla Jo (Doerschlag) Slechta, the family lived in Sprague, Wash., until 1974 and then moved to Deer Park. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1978 and married Douglas C. Box on May 11, 1979.
Dorothy Mae Kelley was taken home in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Jan.17, 2012.
Dorothy was born to Neil and Grace Bridgman of Sunnyside Wash., on May 24, 1923 in Yakima, Wash. She was raised on her parents’ ranch in Sunnyside.
She married James W. Kelley on Aug. 5, 1944. They raised four children, Jim Kelley, of Corvallis Ore., Lynette Olsson, of Silver Spring, Md., Tim Kelley of Chattaroy and Tami Meador of Deer Park. She also had 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Bonnie Helen Brooke was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho. During the Great Depression she and her family traveled to Washington, D.C., in what came to be known as the Bonus Army March.
While attending High School in California she fell in love with Lester Wallace. She left school so they could marry in 1940. The marriage survived World War II and Lester's U.S. Navy service but ended in divorce in 1955.
Mr. John Schuler, age 78, died at Spokane Hospice House in Spokane on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. The cause of death was a long-term battle with Parkinson’s Disease. John was born to become a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Born Feb. 21, 1933, in Colville, his family moved to the Spokane area the next year where he lived until 1970. John then resided in the Deer Park, Clayton and Loon Lake communities.
John was a 1952 graduate of John Rogers High School and a track team athlete.
