The Riverside Rams and Medical Lake Cardinals, both 1-0 after the first week of Northeast A League play, will meet 7 p.m. Friday at RHS.
The Rams used a strong defensive effort in the second half to get by the Kettle Bulldogs 27-21 last week. The Cardinals used an offensive explosion in the second half to past Newport 35-20 on Sept. 20.
Jacob Collins rushed for 150 yards in the win against KF. It was his second straight 100-plus yard effort on the ground.
The Cardinals also feature a workhorse in the backfield. Fullback Jackson Tappero accounted for 202 total yards against Newport.
Lillie Mae Gibson, 82 years of life and a very longtime resident of Deer Park, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
Lillie is the dear wife of Bob Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson's funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, in Deer Park at the Open Door Congregational Church followed with a gathering of family and friends at Lammâ€™s Reception Center on Spotted Road, just north of Bob and Lillie's ranch.
Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park, will be in charge of arrangements.
Deer Park High School teacher Jeffrey Dunn was selected as Educational Service District 101â€™s teacher of the year.
Dunn, who as works as an English teacher at DPHS, as a secondary Learning Assistance Program coordinator and as site coordinator of the Cornerstone After and Summer School Program (funded through a 21st Century After School grant), competed for the state teacher of the year title last week.
Katie Brown, a middle school teacher at Shuksan Middle School in Bellingham, was chosen over eight other candidates, including Dunn, for the title.
