Elk arrest leads to methamphetamine charges

Spokane County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Truman responded to a suspicious person call near Miller's One-Stop on Newport Highway at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 after an anonymous caller stated William Harriman, 33, and his wife, Kamille Harriman, 30, were staying in Elk.
The caller also said the Harrimans were driving a white 1990's Chevrolet extra cab truck.

Evelyn I Amos, 82

A memorial service was Feb. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Deer Park for longtime area resident Evelyn Irene (Ellis) Amos, 82, who passed away on Jan. 29, 2013, in Spokane.
Born on Feb. 17, 1930, in Springdale, she graduated from Springdale High School in 1947 and moved to Deer Park in 1955. She worked as a billing clerk at Deer Park Hospital.
She married Leo Coyle in 1949. The couple divorced in 1971. She later married Glen Amos and later divorced.
Mrs. Amos was a member of Deer Park Hospital Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church.

Carroll F. Scott, 68

Carroll Francis "Scotty" Scott died on Monday, Jan. 28, at Avalon Care Center where he had been resident since November, 2011.
Mr. Scott was born in Spokane on Sept. 1, 1944. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1962. He joined the Navy a year later and served for eight years. He was proud of his service as a Machinists Mate aboard two submarines, The Scamp and the Hawkbill.
In 1972 Mr. Scott entered his life's employment as a miller, first with Centennial Mills and later with Archer Daniels Midland. He retired in 2006.

Robert L. Hippler, 87

A memorial service/potluck will be held 1-5 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Deer Park Eagles Lodge, W12 South Ave., for Robert Lee Hippler, 87, who passed away on Dec. 1 in Spokane.
Born on April 18, 1925, to the late Leonard Elmer and Anna Marie Hippler in Spokane, he graduated from Rogers High School in 1943. Mr. Hippler worked as a farmer, did plenty of construction work and drove a tanker for Cenex.
He lived in the Deer Park area for 69 years.
A sister Fern Dahlem, predeceased him.
