Joe Begovich, 84

A memorial service will held at 10 a.m. on March 17 at Thornhill Valley Funeral Chapel for former Elk resident Joe “Crazy Joe” Begovich, 84, who passed away on March 13, 2012.
Born on Sept. 24, 1927, in Rock Springs, Wy., to Marko and Evanka Begovich, the family moved to Elk when he was 6 years old. He attended school at Elk Grade School and Riverside High School. He joined the Navy after high school for two years of active duty and continued as a Naval Reservist for another 18 years.
Mr. Begovich was employed as a truck driver for P.I.E for 40 years.

Reward offered to help solve Weflen disappearance

Almost 25 years after her disappearance, Bonneville Power Administration and local law enforcement officials continue to search for clues in an effort to discover what happened to Deer Park’s Julie Weflen.
In an attempt to generate leads in the case, BPA is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in Weflen's disappearance.
