After crunching numbers throughout the night, Washington United for Marriage (WUM) announced on Nov. 7 that Referendum 74 will be approved by voters.
“This is a clear win,” said WUM campaign manager Zach Silk. “We have run the numbers every which way, and we can now confidently say that we have won. This is an historic day for Washington, an historic day for our country and, most of all, for families across the state who have dreamed of this day and the wedding celebrations to come.”
The Republican candidates for Spokane County Commissioner came through victorious in Tuesday’s general election.
Incumbent Todd Mielke bested Democrat challenger John Roskelley 80,656-69,281 for the District 1 seat. In the District 2 race, Shelly O’Quinn outpolled Daryl Romeyn 81,281-68,256.
In the Stevens County Commissioner races, incumbent Malcolm Friedman lost to Steve Parker 6,027-5,554 in the District 3 race. In the District 1 race, Wes McCart got past Mark Beck 5,907-5,236.
All the Stevens County candidates were Republicans.
All elections will be certified on Nov. 27.
