It is in celebration, mourning and love that we remember our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Miriam Kathleen “Katie” Christiansen. At 92 years old, Katie peacefully returned to the arms of her lord, husband and parents on Oct. 6, 2012.
Katie was born to Edward and Harriet Wolf at the family home near Tekoa, Wash., on July 30, 1920. She grew up in Deer Park and lived there for the rest of her life.
As a young girl, she enjoyed sports, even winning top honors at the state level for her role as the point guard on the team. She went on to graduate in the Deer Park High School Class of 1938.
In a match with deep playoff implications, the Clarkston volleyball team defeated Deer Park 5-19, 22-25, 19-25, 25-9, 15-8 on Thursday.
The win improved the Lady Bantams’ Great Northern League record to 2-8 while the Lady Stags fell to 1-8.
Clarkston grabbed a quick lead in the first game. A Sierra English kill trimmed the Lady Bantam lead to 9-7. A pair of Jemma Lakewolf kills kept Deer Park close only to have Clarkston close out the game with late kills by Tori Zeimantz and Adriana Arnone.
