No services are planned for Springdale resident Donna Jo Peterson, 77, who passed away on Dec. 30, 2011, in Spokane.
Born on Sept. 20, 1934, to Clara J. (Staley) Karnes and Jesse C. Karnes, she was raised in Elk and was a long-time insurance representative in the Seattle and Spokane areas.
She and her husband, Lowell, later moved to Springdale to enjoy a quieter life. Mrs. Peterson worked with the Springdale Town Council and she and her husband enjoyed shooting darts and hanging out with friends
A graveside funeral service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery, with the Rev. Sue Robinson officiating, for longtime Wild Rose Prairie resident Mike Burdega 93, who passed away on Jan. 3, 2012.
Born on April 9, 1909, on a farm in Colonsay, Saskatchewan, to Nick and Margaret Burdega, his family moved to a farm on the edge of Wild Rose Prairie and he graduated from Mead High School in1937.
The Deer Park wrestling team made short work of the Pullman Greyhounds on Thursday.
The Stags, who defeated West Valley 48-19 the previous day, needed only 24 minutes to take care of the Greyhounds 59-24. The win improved the Stags’ Great Northern League record to 3-0.
The Greyhound match allowed head coach Matt Jorgensen to give many of the reserves varsity action. Only two varsity regulars (Dylan Miller at 170 pounds and Jason Jorgensen at 182) saw action.
