The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate several reports over the last few months involving the killing and injuring of domestic animals by a pack of dogs. The incidents appear to be centered near the Bittrich-Antler and Scotts Valley Road areas as well as the 6800-7200 block of State Highway 291 in Southern Stevens County.
A memorial service was held on May 21 at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park for area resident Helen Schneider, 75 who passed away on May 15 in Deer Park.
Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made in Mrs. Schneider’s name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3067, 29 E. First St., Deer Park, WA 99006 or Horizon Hospice, 123 Cascade Way, Spokane, WA 99208.

Funeral services were May 24, 2011, at the Deer Park Open Door Congregational Church, with the Rev. Daniel Berg officiating, for area resident Charlotte E. (Mason) Layton, 90, who passed away on May 17 in Spokane.
Smart Cremation was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Spokane or KSPS-TV Public Education.

A wake will be held in his honor at 2 p.m. on, May 28 at the family home, 4677 Williams Valley Road, in Clayton, for former Deer Park doctor James A. McCallum II, 78, who passed away on May 19 at his home.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Society.
